Richmond, Virginia, U.S. – May 17, 2017 — SoftChalk, LLC, a leading developer of content authoring solutions for eLearning and digital curriculum, announced today the four winners and four honorable mentions in its annual Lesson Challenge. Each year the Lesson Challenge gives SoftChalk users a chance to be recognized for the exciting educational digital content they create for their learners. Every entry is evaluated by a panel of judges after being submitted by their author, publicly, through SoftChalk Cloud.
The 2017 SoftChalk Lesson Challenge had a total of 48 entries. All lessons are scored using a subset of the Quality Matters judging rubric. Specific categories include lesson creativity, professionalism, use of media, promoting learning engagement and use of measurable learning objects among other categories. This year a group of leading online educators and past Lesson Challenge winners made up the judging panel.
Winning lessons this year include: first place winner, Ashley Walsh from Virtual High School at Prince William County with a lesson titled Module II- Ancient Legends; second place winner, Megan Ganier from Clark County School District with U.S. Government M3 L1: Political Parties and the third place winners, Sheryne Southard from Clayton State University with a lesson titled SOCI 1101 Introduction to Sociology and Pam Miller from Athens State University with Digital Citizenship.
Four honorable mentions were also selected. Sheryne Southard with Clayton State University for Phil 2030: Introduction to Ethics & the Ancient Greeks; Sherrie Grounds with Pasadena Independent School District for POB1 Financial Statements; Jessica Kirkland with Shenandoah University for I Too; and Sara Gordon with the University of Washington for Cardiac Diseases for Dentistry.
