July 11th- August 8th, 2016
Are you teaching online? Don’t know where to begin when developing online courses? Are you looking for more effective ways to deliver engaging content to your online learners?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, we have the answers for you. SoftChalk’s Innovators in Online Learning is teaming up with Professor Joe Zisk to bring you a summer course with an awesome opportunity to learn strategies and tips for teaching online. This four week online course for educators will explore everything from aligning course objectives, instructional strategies and student-centered activities to active integration with learning management systems.
The course is hosted in a learning management system (LMS) and will include assignments, community interaction, discussion posts and synchronous/asynchronous interaction. All instructional lessons that will be used are created using SoftChalk, providing multi-media rich content for you to explore and learn from. Not only will you learn online teaching strategies, you will also see, from the learner’s perspective, various teaching strategies in a real online course environment.

This online, non-credit course will take place July 11- August 8, 2016. Where will the course be taught?
What time of day will the course be held?
Jenn Montrose
Hi there! Thank you for the questions, the course is an online course so you can take it anywhere you have internet access. Along with it being an online course you can access the material whenever is convenient for you. There is no set time to take the course each day. We will have an introductory webinar to the course which will be a set time, however we have not scheduled it at this point in time. I hope this answers your questions.
Sherri

Is it easy enough to transfer the lessons created on Softchalk to Moodle? is it just a link or is it more involved?
Thanks
Jenn Montrose

When can we register for the course?
Jenn Montrose
Hi Heather!
We plan on having registration opening on June 1st!
Keep an eye out, at that point you will have a little over a month to register for the course.
Thanks!
Jenn
Diana
I will not be available daily during that time period. Can I do work for multiple days at a time, or do I need to be checking in daily?
Jenn Montrose
Hi Diana!
The online course format is asynchronous and there are no required times that you will need to be online. It is all on your own time and you will have opportunities to interact with your classmates via discussion boards. To help keep the flow of information sharing among the many participants in the course, we are asking that you try to complete the activities within the suggested time frame. You will have the option to post any assignment early. We realize that some participants may not be able to follow all the suggested dates; therefore, for participants who are seeking the “Badge of Completion” all material must be submitted by Aug. 8. The course will no longer be accessible after Aug. 9.
I hope that answers your question!
