Richmond, Virginia, U.S. – May 8, 2015 — SoftChalk, LLC, a leading developer of content authoring solutions for eLearning and digital curriculum, announced today the three winners and six honorable mentions for its annual Lesson Challenge. The Lesson Challenge occurs each year and gives SoftChalk enthusiasts a chance to be recognized for the innovative digital content they create for their students. All entries are submitted publicly through SoftChalk Cloud by their author, where they are evaluated by a panel of judges.
The panel judges consists of leading online educators who score the lessons using a subset of the Quality Matters judging rubric with specific categories including lesson creativity, professionalism, interactivity and how well the lesson reinforces student learning. The 2015 SoftChalk Lesson challenge had 79 entries.
This year’s winning lessons include: first place winner, Penny Shriver of Texas State Technical College with a lesson titled Narrative Essay: Planning; second place winner, Rachel Clifton of Happyville Middle School with Digital Citizenship and You and the third place winner, Sherry Trier of Northwestern Michigan College with a lesson titled Train the Trainer- Online Module.
Six honorable mentions were also selected. Alana Otis of Seneca Libraries with a lesson titled,Academic Honesty Plagiarism Tutorial — Business;Marilyn Larson of College of the Mainland with Standard Notation Lesson Challenge; Diana Garrison of Virtual Arkansas with Monoprints: Art I; Sheryne Southard of Clayton State University with HIST 2111 Chapter 1; Prakash K P of Grade Results with Cell Organelles; and Gwinnett Online Campus with Line Graphs.
